Inner Me Art Therapy

A creative way to be heard.

Art is more than words. Art therapy uses making and creating, alongside conversation, to help you express who you are, explore what matters and grow in confidence.

What is art therapy?

Art therapy is a form of counselling that uses the creative process, with a qualified therapist alongside you. You might paint, shape clay, build a collage or write a story. Then, if you want to, you talk about what you made and what it means to you.

The focus is on the doing, not the result. You do not need any art experience, and nobody will judge what you create. Making something with your hands can help express things that are hard to put into words, especially for children and teens.

I am a qualified art therapist and counsellor. My sessions are warm, playful and paced around you, and they build on your strengths, your interests and what already works.

What people come for

People come for all sorts of reasons: big feelings, confidence, changes at home or at school, finding your voice, or simply a space that is yours.

Without judgement, the art therapist supports you in processing physical, emotional and social responses to your lived experience around trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, domestic violence and addiction with a focus on finding meaning through metaphor, storytelling and image making.

Art therapy promotes grounding practices to expand capacity to safely explore your inner self, and embrace uncertainty with creativity and confidence.

Who it's for

Schools

I run small-group art therapy sessions for students of all ages, on school grounds, in a format that your wellbeing or counselling team can refer into.

Students use paint, clay and collage to express themselves, bring awareness to emotional regulation, identity and belonging, strengths and interests and to build confidence and feel heard, without having to find the words first. Art making in a group breaks down isolation through finding commonality, accepting difference and seeing new perspectives.

I also offer Open Art Studio sessions for students in their lunch break, supporting self-expression with a sense of calm, providing a safe space to try something new, building relationships while celebrating individuality.

My child or teen

Children and teens often find it easier to show how they feel than to explain it. Making something together gives them a calm, playful way to be heard.

Sessions happen at home, in a place your child already feels safe, with every material supplied.

Myself

Art therapy is counselling that uses creativity alongside conversation. It can be a gentler way to explore what matters to you and who you are becoming.

There is no right or wrong way to make something. The process is the point.

Groups & workshops

For schools

I run small-group programs for students of all ages at your school, built with your counselling and wellbeing team.

Questions people ask first

Do I need to be good at art?

Not at all. Art therapy is about expressing yourself, not making something that looks good. Everyone can create, and there is no right or wrong way to do it.

Do I need to bring my own materials?

No. I bring all the paint, clay, paper and other materials to every session. What I bring grows and changes over time to suit you.

Where do sessions happen?

At your home, at your school or in a quiet community space. I travel to you across the Gold Coast. All you need is a quiet, private space where you will not be interrupted.

Who is art therapy for?

Children, teens and adults, and school groups. If someone in your family would rather show how they feel than explain it, art therapy can be a good fit.

What happens to the artwork?

Artwork and materials stay with me to protect confidentiality and keep everything safe. If you would like to keep or photograph a piece, just ask.

How does a school set up a program?

I work with students of all ages. Start with a free 15-minute phone chat. We will talk through your students, your goals and your wellbeing team’s referral process, then I run small-group sessions on site. The school provides a quiet, private room.

What is the free 15-minute chat?

A relaxed 15-minute phone call, booked online, to tell me a little about who the sessions are for and for me to answer your questions. There is no pressure and no commitment.
